Welcome to HomeCareDirect...
A care-at-home support service which puts the client or family in charge of who visits their home to provide care, and allows the client and/or family to choose from local people, as their first choice, who their carers will be, HomeCareDirect will then train the personal carers selected to meet the needs of the individual client.
Care-at-home can now be provided and received from trusted local acquaintances, friends and family members (including family living in the same house if a need can be proven) or from professional personal carers.
The carers selected by the client and/or family, can then receive payment for this care on an hourly rate set by the client or family, via funding from the Local Council Social Services department following a successful ‘Care Needs Assessment' by a social worker from the local council.
The law was changed in 2003 so that a social worker must now offer the option for all clients to receive a 'Direct Payment', as an alternative to care organized by the Council.
HomeCareDirect now makes it easy for people to take up the option to choose a ‘Direct Payment', by offering to be the legal employer of personal carers selected. HomeCareDirect also provides re-assurance for social workers that their client will remain safe at home under the HomeCareDirect ‘direct payment' system.
PCT continuing care health funding can now be used to fund this HCD system of people taking charge of who comes into their home, to provide their support.
Please see Frequently Asked Questions; for the amount of funding which may be received.
